Welcome To Avoca
The Village of Avoca lies in the Wisconsin River Valley in the area known as the Driftless Area.  This part of Wisconsin is unglaciated, being spared by the last great ice age that covered the rest of the state 10,000 years ago.  The melting glacier formed the river valley which is over 2 miles wide at Avoca.  The valley is surrounded by steep wooded hills with deep valleys that are filled with wildlife and offer many scenic vistas.

The Avoca Prairie is the largest tallgrass prairie east of the Mississippi river.  At over 2,000 acres, it is a haven for hunters, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.  In the fall waterfowl hunters and pheasant hunters take advantage of the great hunting opportunities.  Deer and wild turkeys abound in the hills and river bottoms also.

Bird watchers and hikers can see dozens of species of birds and waterfowl, reptiles, and amphibians.

The Wisconsin river is one of the premier canoe rivers of the mid-west.  In addition to canoeing there are great fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass and catfish as well as walleyes.

Avoca Lake is a beautiful small lake for canoeing, boating or fishing, with many panfish, northerns, and bass.  If you like the outdoors, you'll like Avoca, Wisconsin.
